For me, being a pilot isn’t a hobby or a whim. When I joined the Marine Corps in 1980, my dream was to become a pilot — unfortunately, my eyes couldn’t pass the test. 26 years later, after years of working on aircraft & designing parts for them, my wife and I decided we’d waited long enough. I left my career in Design & Program Management and began my training to become a commercial helicopter pilot and CFI.
I work with Canyon State Aero in Phoenix, Arizona. We offer Flight Training and Aerial Photography around the valley, flying the Schweizer 300 helicopter. The Schweizer is a great training helicopter with a wonderful safety record, and the beautiful Phoenix weather ensures flight training availability year-round!
Unlike most pilots, I bring to the table almost 30 years of aerospace experience — from avionics, line maintenance, troubleshooting, quality systems, design, safety, project & program management. My expertise in these areas helps me to be a better pilot and a better CFI.
